Great Ways to Say "Happy Birthday"

!±8± Great Ways to Say "Happy Birthday"

The old-fashioned birthday card is losing steam, and newer ways to wish your friend a Happy birthday are replacing them. Sometimes, simple well-wishes on Facebook or a birthday email are enough but oftentimes we want a more creative way to wish our friends a New York Happy Birthday. There are lots of options for simple but interesting ways to recognize a friend's birthday.

You can quickly and easily send an online greeting card with funny animations, music, and a cute message. Online greeting cards are available at a variety of websites, including evite.com, 123greetings.com, bluemountain.com, and egreetings.com. If your sense of humor is more snarky you should check out someecards.com for more tongue in cheek humor. On all of the e-cards websites you can sort through greeting cards based on the recipient or the type of card (for example, funny cards or top picks) and the site will allow you to customize the card with a personal message and then email the card to your friend.

Another more creative way to deliver a message is through writing on baked goods. In New York, Mrs. Fields offers delicious cookies of various sizes with custom messages written in icing. Who wouldn't want a giant chocolate chip cookie topped with icing? Or, NYC Cookies by Design will deliver a custom bouquet of cookies with a message to your friend. Their cookies come in a variety of sizes and styles, so you can get flip flop cookies for your friend who loves the beach, guitar cookies for someone more musical, or car cookies someone who likes the racetrack. Cookies by Design also offer large cookies, similar to those offered by Mrs. Fields. And if cookies aren't your first choice baked good, you could always opt for buying a cake with a happy Birthday message written on top. Famous New York bakeries like Veniro's in the East Village or Magnolia Bakery in the West Village offer great birthday cakes or pies.

Another option is to order a champagne bottle online with a custom-printed message on the label. This way, your friend gets both a nice bottle of champagne, and your personal message! For the artistically gifted, you could print out your own label to stick on the champagne bottle. This idea could also work with a great bottle of wine instead of champagne.

If you only have time to quickly stop by a store, you could send your friend a "Happy Birthday" balloon either by itself, with a card, or with a gift. It's also a popular NYC tradition to embarrass a friend at work with a big helium balloon waiting at their desk the morning of their birthday.

The possibilities for wishing someone a Happy Birthday are endless. A traditional card is becoming a thing of the past; there are many more original ways to share your birthday wishes. A friend's birthday is a chance to be creative and show your friend that you thought of them on their special day!

Fender Blacktop Stratocaster HH

With the Fender Blacktop Strat HH the design team at Fender has rethought the iconic Stratocaster as a lean, mean, no-frills rock machine. It's stripped down look lends the Blacktop HH the personality of a bare-knuckle brawler, with tone to match, thanks to a pair of high-output Alnico pickups. These pickups, in concert with custom 5-way switching, let you get a wide range of fat humbucking and single-coil tones from the Fender Blacktop Strat HH. The Alder body comes finished in your choice of Sonic Blue, Candy Apple Red, or Black with a black pickguard, with chrome hardware and black-skirted amp knobs completing the raw look. The 9.5" radius fingerboard has 22 med jumbo frets, and is available in rosewood or maple, making this axe great for just about any style. The Fender Blacktop Strat HH 's synchronized vibrato won't let you down either, allowing for precise intonation and rock-solid tuning stability through the most aggressive playing - proguitarshop.com

What Makes a Great Employee? 5 Characteristics You Should Cultivate

!±8± What Makes a Great Employee? 5 Characteristics You Should Cultivate

If you want to stay in work during an economic downturn, you need to become a great employee. Great employees will stand a much better chance of keeping their current jobs if the company is forced to cut back on staff.

And if you are a great employee, but the worst case scenario does arise and your employer has no choice but to make your post redundant, you will have a very high chance of finding another job quickly.

But what exactly makes a great employee?

Characteristic #1

The first requirement is being exceptionally good at your job. This is often something which comes with time and experience, but you can still be very good at your job if you are just starting out. As long as you do everything to the best of your ability and are willing to learn, act on constructive criticism and improve your skills, you will be considered a great employee.

Characteristic #2

Being good at your job isn't necessarily the same as being very well qualified, although of course, qualifications help and in many jobs are essential. The willingness to learn on the job and to complete additional training can be just as significant as already having the right pieces of paper. This is because attitude is important to employers. You can be the most highly qualified person in the company, but if you have a negative attitude towards work or your colleagues, you won't create a good impression.

Characteristic #3

Getting on well with other people is also crucial in most jobs. Unless you are working alone in a remote location, there is a high likelihood that you will be required to communicate with other people at some point. Even those who work alone are likely to have some communication by phone or email. Being able to put people at ease, create a good atmosphere and be generally helpful and pleasant will be appreciated by employers and your co-workers.

Characteristic #4

Enthusiasm is another characteristic which employers are looking for. Enjoying your job and being motivated to get results will make you very desirable as an employee.

Characteristic #5

The ability to add value to the company is another excellent quality to bring to a job. If you are able to go beyond the requirements of your job description you will be a valued member of staff. If you can act on your own initiative and make improvements in the day to day work of the organization, you will be noticed. This doesn't have to be earth-shattering. Simple changes which increase efficiency or save money or time can make a big difference to a firm.
